The PIP is here! From little things big things grow!
January 6th, 2014. A date that I have been dreading for sometime now! As the lowest temperatures plunge Georgia into the deep freeze for the next 48 hours leaving students and teachers praying for a coveted snow day to prolong the wonderful winter break that we just enjoyed, I contemplate the semester that stretches out before me. Last semester, I went completely paperless in all of my classes. My Year 3 MYP are flying with their PIP's (Personal Interactive Portfolio's) - my Year 1 MYP are just getting their feet wet and well...the 12th Grade have been digital for a long time now. I fear the workload this semester - data analysis Internet tools, a MOOC... and most of all - the seniors last few months of their course building up to their exams in May. So many deadlines; so little time!
I take a deep breath...and think as positively as I can. I need to balance more - last semester was positively the hardest thing I have ever done...and I think this one could top that. But like the temperatures plunging outside the basement door as I type, I will plunge into this with an open mind and hopeful energy! I've managed to move my students into the 21st Century using the resources at their fingertips - I need to keep moving too (not withstanding adding some exercise classes to try and reverse my expanding waistline as my commute and hours behind a computer are not being kind to my 40 year old body!).
So dream of the palm tree of the picture...the summer is coming (and ISTE beckons...where these PIP's will really take on a new arena!).
